Daniel reached out to us after his 68 Mustang was restored and just didn't have the sound and power to match the immaculate paint work and beautiful interior of the car. It needed some new life under the hood and we couldn't wait to help him out. We called on Prestige Motorsports once again for one of their 450hp Small Block Ford 347's. As always, they were ready to provide a fantastic product in timely manner. Provided with their rotating assembly, aluminum heads, rocker arms, lifters and pushrods, we only needed to customize it to his standards. We dressed the motor with a new Milodon oil pan, Ford Racing Valve Covers, and an Edelbrock RPM Air gap intake manifold.
Daniel insisted on the turn-key advantage of today's fuel injection technology. The Holley Terminator X Max Stealth 4150 setup was the go-to for this application. We were able to introduce the modern technology and tunability to this antique and make it a real driver, while maintaining a period correct carburetor look on top of the motor. This included an upgraded Aeromotive Fuel tank with internal high pressure pump, a full AN return style fuel system and an upgraded ignition system.
After the motor was installed, it put down some rather impressive power. The stock C4 transmission was not going to cut it. The solution was to upgrade to a 4R70W overdrive transmission with a lockup torque converter. This enabled us to get the power down and fine tune the driveabilty for our customer.
We capped off the motor the install off with a brand new Magnaflow exhaust system to bring the long tube headers out the back. It was a great pleasure to work with Daniel and get this show car on the road with the performance upgrades it needed!
With a fast car comes the need to stop fast. After driving the car for a couple of months, it was time for some stopping power and a wheel and tire upgrade. We upgraded all 4 corners of this car with Wilwood disc brakes and a set of 17 inch Falken tires on American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels in matching chrome.
