We had the pleasure of getting this 68 Ford F100 for Greg into it's proper form with some Performance, comfort and aesthetic upgrades. Greg bought this beautiful truck and immediately decided that it needed some modern upgrades to make it get up and go. We decided that it needed a new powerplant, courtesy of our partners at Prestige Motorsports. They supplied us with one of their 500hp 347 stroker long blocks to put some ponies under the hood. We dressed it with Ford Motorsport tins and a Moroso oil pan, which required a little bit of massaging of the chassis for clearance. We topped it off with a Holley Sniper2 EFI system to get as much performance as possible with the ease of turning the key to go.
The trucks exhaust system is a true dual setup with Flowmaster mufflers coupled with a set of electronic cutouts.
AC was a must in the Georgia heat, so we tagged the guys over at Old Air Products for an under-dash AC unit. The unit plumbed in flawlessly with the Foxbody front accessory drive that we installed to give the truck a modern serpentine drive, while still maintaining some nostalgia in the build.
To put the power to the ground, we upgraded the stock 9" rear end to a Moser Engineering third-member with a 3.70 gear with upgraded 35-spline axles. Furthermore, we installed a beefy AOD transmission behind the powerplant built by Hughes Performance and is turning a 4" custom aluminum driveshaft.
With bigger power means it needs better stopping power. For that, we upgraded the stock drums in the rear to a disc brake kit, which still allowed for functioning parking brakes.
To finish it off, we took to the interior and installed a new headliner with DEI heat insulation accompanied by a shorter steering column, upgraded steering wheel and a digital dash. The in-cab gas tank was not a sufficient for the owner, so he had the idea of hiding it in a chest in the bed. A custom built tank was the solution and it now has a 32 gallon tank remote mounted in the bed.
As always, we can't thank our loyal customers enough for trusting us with these builds! Keep your eyes peeled for this one on the road!
